Import service (P193):

Mainfreight submit container numbers intended for rail via Port Connect prior to vessel discharge

By 06:30 on day of import service, rail booking is to be in place in KR’s system with the container numbers and intended service included. Mainfreight are responsible for scheduling their own tonnage and ensuring it is cleared from the port accordingly.

Mainfreight to send through email by 06:30 to KR/POAL listing the containers that are to be loaded on that evening’s rail service

Mainfreight to send through documentation for any hazardous containers to KR/POAL

KR IMEX team to update Railmail document at 06:30 noting the rail schedule and rail booking number against the Mainfreight containers planned to load that evening

All container doors for Mainfreight Otahuhu freight to be loaded facing the front of the train where possible

When services need to run on the NAL line, Mainfreight tonnage to be loaded on the rear 15 x wagons of the train with the doors facing the rear of the train

POAL to provide a line list specific for Mainfreight portion of the train, showing containers, wagons and wagon order

KR IMEX team to check all containers showing correctly EDI’d and to follow up on any issues

15 x wagons of import freight pulled from POAL at 23:40 on Monday to Friday evening

15 x wagons of import freight placed into Mainfreight siding at 02:00 on Tuesday – Saturday morning

 

Export service (P193):

Mainfreight to ensure export containers are booked and preadvised into Port Connect

Mainfreight create rail booking on the day of service with the correct amount of 20’/40’ slots planned to load, with container numbers entered into the booking

Mainfreight sends through rail manifest to KR/POAL by 15:15 on Monday to Friday, showing containers/wagons loaded for rail on that date. Any documentation for DG containers is also to be sent through.

Mainfreight complete pre-advise into Kiwirail’s system by 15:15 cutoff

KR Domestic team to check all containers showing correctly pre-advised and to follow up on any issues (includes no-VGM issues/waybill issues and errors)

15 x wagons of export freight pulled from Mainfreight at 16:15

15 x wagons of export freight placed into POAL at 19:30

Information required on Export Manifest:

  • Service (will be M192 + date, eg: M192/28)

  • Rail Booking ID

  • Container Number

  • Rail wagon number

  • Sender Name (Mainfreight Wharf Ops)

  • Type (Dry/Reefer & Standard/High cube)

  • Scheduled arrival time (19:30 same day of loading)

  • DG details (if applicable)

Rake stripped at Southdown with 15 wagons of empty decks (those at the causeway end of rake) placed to CODA at 15:00 (Profile CAO3)

Remaining 15 wagons at Southdown (those at gate house end) reload for 192 (profile P192).

15 wagons pulled ex Southdown (profile P192).

15 wagons pulled ex Mainfreight Alderman Rd at 16:15 (15:15 cut-off) (new Profile M192 freight payer blocked to MFT) - these wagons are pulled on way back from placing CODA.

Two portions married up in Westfield for a 30 wagon train to Port.

192 depart Westfield with Southdown portion to head and MFT portion to rear.

At Port rake stripped and reloaded for 193.

30 wagon train with 15 wagons for Mainfreight Alderman loaded to head (profile M193 freight payer blocked to MFT) and 15 wagons for Southdown loaded to rear (P193).

At Westfield rake split

15 Southdown wagons are married up with the 15 wagons pulled ex CODA (COA3) and placed to 16 Rd at Southdown as a 30-wagon rake at 00:30.

At Southdown rake stripped with the 15 wagon half ex CODA with tonnage for transhipment to Metroport services (as now).

Rake reloaded for 194/194S.

The 15 wagons ex 193 for Mainfreight Alderman are placed at 02:00 Tuesday-Saturday. Wagons remain at Alderman until 16:15 pull for 192.
